Dear Irene,

I fancy you may be surprised to hear from me, but I have been terribly bored as of late, Watson’s fault I suspect, since he is due to be married soon and as such been living with his…fiance. He is however back for a short awhile, in Baker Street. Just as well, I got carried away in a case last night and am now stuck in bed.

So I am writing to you because it gives my mind something to occupy itself with, otherwise it will rot and fester without stimulation. You wouldn’t perhaps have a case at all for me? Or something interesting? Anything? Please? The mother hen is hovering, it is only a matter of time before I am regaled with stories about Mary or his new life and god knows what else.

Please, find it in that criminal heart of yours to stimulate my brain with something interesting, even if only for a short while, I know you’ve been busy. I never miss anything.

Sincerely,

“Watson…Watson…how can you say that?” How he wanted him to join him on one last adventure, although this case was mostly wrapped up right now, he was sure he’d receive more information soon, or perhaps another case. Maybe…if he chose a safer one this time, he could…

Holmes waited until Watson had left the room, before hurrying to the end of his bed, pulling something out from the mattress. It was a much large book, with M simply emblazoned on the cover. He quickly scribbled his casebook notes inside and then closed the book, putting it back in his hiding place. He hoped Lestrade would pop by soon, yes he actually hoped, because then he may have a case, in the meantime, he would continue to ponder on this one.

"Watson…Watson…how can you say that?" How he wanted him to join him on one last adventure, although this case was mostly wrapped up right now, he was sure he’d receive more information soon, or perhaps another case. Maybe…if he chose a safer one this time, he could relax in the knowledge that Watson was joining him on a last adventure and staying safe from harm at the same time.

"I just…never mind old boy.. this case is mostly finished now anyway. Though I expect to hear from Lestrade fairly soon. Perhaps one of them will suit us better"

I would rather you away and alive, then here and….gone…” His eyes stared off into the distant, trying to push away that memory, of almost loosing Watson.

Sherlock shook his head, unable to look his old friend in the eyes. It wasn’t to do with him and Mary, not this time. “No old boy, that is not it at all” I  don’t think I have the heart to tell you that I want you safe, Watson. Yes he missed Watson joining him on his adventures, but they were getting increasingly dangerous as he got closer to Moriarty.

"I…you…It’s best if you don’t join me anymore Watson…it’s far too dangerous…" He wanted to tell him the truth, but he knew it would just make Watson worry.

He knew before he left that his friend may end up angry that he had gone without him, thats why he had left the note and even taken his gun, so Watson couldn’t use that excuse, but it seemed he ended up following him anyway. That was Watson for you, always so loyal.

"I didn’t want you to come Watson…"

is-it-poisoned-nanny:

Sherlock gave the pipe a puff, it relaxed him tremendously. “Very well Watson, if that’s what you want” He lay back on the bed, his mind deep in thought. “I suppose you want to know why I was out around London in the middle of the night, would you like me to explain?”…

He hissed in pain as his friend began to work on his leg, but did his best to prevent his face from showing how much pain he was actually in. “Well then, old friend..where to begin..”

"You, I believe had just fallen asleep in your chair. I after perhaps an hour woke up, having recovered from the medicine you felt nessercery to give me. There was a knock at the door. It was one of the Irregulars. I had asked them to keep an eye out for several men of importance and this night one of them had found the location of a man I  had been searching for, for some time"

Had his leg not been injured, he would surely be pacing right now. “I followed young Percy to the pier and then dismissed him, I was sure this could prove quite dangerous. I hid for some time, listening and writing in my casebook, concluding that one of the two men was planing an explosion for Moriarty or with help from him. The other man was clearly an idiot and would no doubt take the fall for the incident. However, they spotted me”

He winced as Watson touched an area of the wound that was more painful then the rest. “Ever here of a bedside manner, Mother Hen? Now..where was I? Ah yes, once I’d realised they had found my location, of course I ran, they shot at me several times, I do apologise but you have a rather Holy coat now old boy. Two of them happened to graze my body and stopped me in my path. Rather then kill me they chose to knock me out…most perplexing, but there you are. Then I suppose you found me”
